Eind deze maand zal Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing onder andere voor de Wii in de winkels komen te liggen. Uit een interview is nu gebleken dat SEGA eigenlijk ook Mario in de game wilde stoppen. Dit gezien het succes van Mario en Sonic op de Olympische (Winter)spelen. Daarnaast is ook bekend geworden dat de Wii versie geen downloadbare content zal krijgen. SEGA noemt hiervoor als reden de opslagcapaciteit van de Wii. De PS3 en Xbox 360 versie krijgen wel downloadbare content. Hieronder een deel uit het interview waaruit blijkt dat SEGA graag ook Mario als character in de game had gestopt.
Q: Was Mario ever considered a possibility as a special character for the Wii version? I mean he’s got his own Kart and everything!
A: Everything is a possibility. It definitely was discussed way early on in development, but just the fact that we have the whole separate "Mario and Sonic" series; well frankly we didn’t want to cross contaminate them.
