Sega West heeft flink gehakt in het personeel. Het bedrijf heeft in totaal 73 werknemers laten gaan, 36 in het kantoor van San Francisco en nog eens 37 in de afdeling van London. Ongeveer vijftien en tien procent van het totaal aantal werknemers per locatie.
Digitale focus
De reden voor de ontslagen is omdat Sega meer de nadruk wil leggen op de digitale sector, zo laat het bedrijf weten. Het kantoor in San Francisco gaat nu fungeren als het digitale hoofdkantoor. De afdeling in London gaat ze richten op de traditionele boxed games. Mike Hayes, president van Sega West, vertelde tegen IndustryGamers dat het bedrijf de laatste zes maanden goed heeft nagedacht over waar ze hun geld moeten besteden. Omdat digitale distributie steeds meer aandeel krijgt in de game industrie, heeft Sega besloten meer in deze tak te investeren.

Administratieve reorganisatie
Sega of America en Sega Europe hielden zich voorheen beide bezig met digitale games en traditionele games. Sega heeft nu besloten om alle digitale activiteit vanuit San Fransisco te regelen, London gaat zich richten op de traditionele games. Dit om betere successen te behalen op het digitale front. Hayes benadrukt dat dit vooral een administratieve reorganisatie is. Dankzij de reorganisatie kan het bedrijf efficiënter omgaan met de kosten.
