Greenpeace heeft de jaarlijkse traditie om te kijken welke bedrijven zich enigszins houden aan de groene boodschap die zij uit wil dragen. Sony, Microsoft en Nintendo scoren daarin traditioneel matig tot slecht, ook dit jaar weer.

Nintendo is verreweg de ongroenste van de 3. Op de schaal van 0 tot 10 scoort het bedrijf een 1.8. Toch is Nintendo niet helemaal blind voor het milieu, want dit cijfer is zelfs beter dan vorig jaar (toen kregen ze een 0.8). Volgens Greenpeace komt dit door de efficiëntere oplader die de DSi gebruikt. voor de rest is de organisatie vernietigend in haar oordeel over het gebruik van chemicaliën en doen het bedrijf te weinig om e-waste, electronisch afval, tegen te gaan.

Ook niet best
Sony en Microsoft doen het in elk geval een stuk beter dan Nintendo. Toch komen ook de andere consolebouwers niet boven de voldoende uit. Sony haalt een magere 3.3 en Microsoft is de koning van de milieuvriendelijkheid in de industrie met een 4.9. Werk aan de winkel dus.
